Welcome to Glazed Mud Ceramics

I am a potter producing handmade ceramics in North London and in Wickhambreaux, Kent.

I have my own studio in Wickhambreaux and run wheel throwing lessons (for 2 people) - please enquire here.

I will soon be selling a small selection of my work here online, however in the meantime please take a look at my Instagram to buy!

I also sell my work from the studio so if you are in the area, please pop in and say hello.

Why Glazed Mud?

I’ve always loved the satisfying simplicity of clay in its raw form — essentially just mud from the earth, shaped by hand. There’s something deeply grounding about that connection to natural materials and the physicality of working with them. The transformation that happens through firing and glazing still feels a little magical to me: what begins as soft, earthy mud becomes something strong, functional, and lasting. The name also happens to fit neatly with my initials, GM, which made it feel even more personal!

My story

I first discovered pottery eight years ago on a course at a small local studio and, from the moment I first sat at the wheel, I was hooked. What began as curiosity quickly became a real passion. There was something about the process — the quiet focus, the rhythm of the wheel, the feel of the clay in my hands, and the endless possibility of shaping something from a simple lump of earth — that stayed with me long after those first classes ended.

Over the years I continued to develop my skills as part of a community studio in London, learning through practice and alongside other makers, while gradually finding my own style and way of working. Last year I finally realised a long-held dream and opened my own tiny studio in a village in Kent. It’s there, whenever I can escape to it, that I spend as much time as possible making pots by hand. For me, pottery is both grounding and creative — a way of slowing down, paying attention, and continuing to learn with every piece I make.
